Tonight's youth service was Amazing! It was so great to see so many guests in the house! First of all, I was so proud of the students who got out of their comfort zone and worshipped tonight! It was awesome seeing what can happen when we give our all to God in worship! Keep it up. Let's come next week expecting even more!
Tonight in Part 2 of our "Got Love?" series we talked about the d-word. Dating that is. The big idea was:
"Who you date will determine the quality and direction of your life, because dating affects your heart."
It was great to see students praying and giving their relationships to Jesus. Also, I am excited about youth service next week when we tackle some of the questions students submitted tonight about love.
At the end of service we played a game with "Peeps" called "Where my peeps at?" Check out this video of that game and some of the students after service tonight! If you are in the area, don't miss revolution on Saturday nights! It is the place to be!

Saturday we finished our "TXT_MSG" series at revolution. It was a great time of focusing on the importance of the Word of God in our lives. Week 1 we looked at Hebrews 4:12 how the Word of God is powerful and sharper than a sword with two edges. Then Saturday we concluded by looking at the story that Jesus told in Luke 6:46-49 about the EPIC FAIL that happens when you don't build your life on the foundation of the Word of God.
Our Series concluded by a 31 day challenge being issued. The challenge is simple. Take time each day to read the Bible everyday for the next 31 days. Then each day after you read write in your "TXT_MSG Journal" what God is teaching you through the scriptures you read.
If you need a journal feel free to come by the Youth office and we will give you a journal. Also we will be posting the journal online this week.
Check out www.revolutionyouth.net for updates and more info about the 31 day challenge.
Revolution, did I mention that if you complete the challenge your name will be entered to win a $100 Wal-Mart gift card. Just saying.

For the past couple days we have been getting back in the grove of planning youth service set lists for worship. We are going to try to mix it up this upcoming school year. Back in the day I would plan the service alone (that was when we would sing "Open the eyes of my heart" every service. lol). Now it is great to be able to work with a team when planning youth services. I have found that the best thing is to switch it up! It is important that worship is not something that becomes old and boring to students. We promote that kind of lethargic atmosphere when we approach youth service with a "Let's do it like we did last week" mentality. We must approach every youth service with expectancy and creativity from God. We have to plan every worship experience like it's our last.
Random: I remember one time in youth service we opened the service with the preaching and then did the offering & singing in response to the preached Word. That was a cool service.
"God fill our hearts with fresh passion for you so that when we gather with students we create an atmosphere that fosters worship of your Name Jesus!"
Questions:
Do you have a normal format for your youth services?
If, so what have you found to be most effective?
Do you use students or adults to do the welcome/offering/announcements in the service?
How do you do announcements?
How do you do offering?
Leave a comment...or two! Let's collaborate!

- Last night was amazing!
- We had over 30 first time visitors.
- Nearly 100 students in attendance despite a TORNADO passing through an hour before!
- So many students brought friends with them! You guys are absolutely awesome.
- The altar time lasted like 30 minutes or more...WOW so many visitors experienced God! I was amazed how God was moving! Backsliders were praying through, members were praying through, visitors were receiving the Holy Spirit! There is nothing better! All I know to say is that we had a move of God!

Yesterday for youth service we went to a local community park. When we got there we just went around talking to people about the church. Some students signed some kids up to be picked up for Sunday School while others had prayer with people right on their front porch.
We took our moble PA to set up in a pavilion, but it began to rain and storm. So instead of taking the chance of ruining our equipment, I just played me acoustic and we sang and worshiped. After we sang Tyler Medina preached for a couple minutes to us.
It was a refreshing change for revolution. A change that takes us back to our purpose. I don't want the Four walls of a church to contain us. I want to step out and be the church!

This time of year at Revolution is pretty crazy! We start fundraising and getting ready for camps and mission trips. Also, we get ready for our Seniors to graduate. One of the things that we do every year about this time is what we call the "Passing the Torch" youth service.
At this youth service, we gear it toward our graduating seniors and them fulfilling God's calling for their life. But the coolest thing about this service is we ask our seniors to choose a younger student to "Pass the Torch" to. Last night's service was so awesome. It was so meaningful as the different Seniors called out younger students and told why they choose to pass the torch to them. The seniors preached much better than I ever could. It is a pretty emotional time when they are just sharing their heart with the younger students. At revolution we try to bridge the gap between the older students that are moving on and the younger students that are beginning. We want the older to be examples to the younger students.
